FLUORIDE APPLICATION
You can start eating and drinking right away after fluoride application, but please avoid foods that are crunchy, acidic, or hot in temperature for 30 minutes after application. Foods that will cause the coating to come off your teeth will reduce the benefits of fluoride.
Fluoride is a great way to strengthen your teeth and to alleviate discomfort from sensitive teeth! We recommend having an application of fluoride every 3 months for the best protection.

FILLINGS
After a filling, you may still be feeling numb/frozen in the area of treatment. It is okay to start eating and drinking after your appointment. However, if you have had treatment that required freezing part of your lower lip and tongue, you may find that you will drool on that side or have a bit of trouble drinking/eating. When you are frozen, you can’t feel how hard you are biting or chewing on your lip/tongue, so please take extra care. Please do not bite or chew at your lip or tongue. Supervise young children at all times until the freezing wears off. If you cannot wait for the freezing to wear off, you can carefully eat/drink on the side that is not frozen.

EXTRACTIONS
After having teeth removed, you may still be feeling numb/frozen in the area of treatment. It is okay to start eating and drinking after your appointment. If part of your lower lip and tongue is frozen, you may find that you will drool on that side or have a bit of trouble drinking/eating.
Over the next few weeks, a stable blood clot will form and serve as a scaffold for tissue healing and remodeling. Avoid hot drinks because these will dissolve the blood clot. Avoid eating on the side of the extraction area.
If you have continued bleeding or continue bleeding, bite down on cool, damp gauze for at least 20 mins after your appointment. If it becomes soaked in blood, your dentist will have given you extra gauze to change. If you are concerned that the amount of bleeding you experience is abnormal, please call the clinic at 226.791.9168 and one of our staff will assist you.
As a precaution, your dentist may have requested you not to drink through a straw and to avoid blowing your nose or sneezing (if you can!).

DENTURE CARE
Just like regular brushing, regular denture care is just as important.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush or a washcloth to clean your denture daily with light soapy water.
Once a week, you can soak your denture in a diluted vinegar solution (half vinegar and half water) for at least 20mins. After taking it out of the solution, use a toothbrush only to clean any visible debris off while running it under water. Alternatively, you can use a store bought denture cleaner. Make sure to follow the instructions on the packet.
Do not clean your dentures with toothpaste because mild toothpaste abrasives can cause microscratches in the acrylic. Any stuck on debris will come off after soaking in diluted vinegar.
Do not wear your dentures to sleep. Your gums need to recover overnight, and your dentures require daily cleaning overnight.
Following these instructions will help keep your dentures looking clean and new!
